MISSION

VISION

To maintain and strengthen ourselves as a space for the creation, the formation, the reflection, and the projection of diverse artistic manifestations; this with the purpose of creating a city and citizens to the art.

In 2027 the Corporation Teatro La Hora 25 will continue to shape itself as a cultural space with an appropriate infrastructure for the convergence of different artistic expressions.  Also, it will keep being a referent to the conscious theatre.

"LA HORA 25", takes it name inspired by the literary piece of the Roman writer Constant Virgil Gheorghiu, who said in his novel: "-The Twenty-Five Hour- it's not the last hour, but an hour later. The precise time in the occidental society. It's the current hour. The exact hour."

TEATRO LA HORA 25 is that hour, a corporation that works for the city, and keep itself giving an important support to the artistic and humanistic education of Antioquia.

TRAJECTORY

The corporation Teatro La Hora 25 was created in 1989 by a group of artists and independent intellectuals of the theatral movement in Medellín City. It happened under the direction of Farley Velasquez, winner of the Theatre Direction National Award in 2007 — The award was granted by the Culture Ministry of Colombia, for the play Electra of Euripides—.

This group conformed by ten professionals in Dramatic Arts, searched to create their own esthetic and undertook the path of theatre to satisfy the necessity of understanding the world and bearing in it. All of that under the influence of the violent events that took place in that era of Medellin.

With twenty seven years of artistic trajectory, La Hora 25 makes an appearance in the scene of Colombian theatre as a collective of vanguardism that recreates with imagination, passion and rigor different plays of classic and contemporary authors: Euripides, Sophocles, William Shakespeare, Jean Genet, Federico García Lorca, Heiner Müller, Michel Azama, Franz Kafka, Gabriel García Márquez, Farley Velásquez, among others.

The group, now under the direction of Carola Martinez Bandera, is doing educational activities, like acting classes, initiation courses of theatre for kids and seminars for youths and adults.

Throughout its history, the theater has been characterized by shows full of strength and audiovisual language charged of actual referents. Likewise, it highlights for its contribution to culture and has been invited to participate in many national and international festivals.
